This posting title is misleading and needs to be edited. The actual title is "RFK Jr. wants artificial dyes out of America’s food, but it’s not clear they’re harmful, scientist says".
It isn't cool to make things into clickbait on HN.
Utterly backwards attitude. Ingredients should be proven safe, not have government agencies play whack-a-mole figuring out what is harmful, while the food industry synthesizes new substances they will tout as having no research saying they are harmful.
The standard for whether a human child can consume a food should be proof that something is harmless rather than accepting corporations at their word and only banning if something is proved to be harmful
whoever that scientist is should have their "scientist" badge removed because a quick google search finds "research that says artificial dyes are harmful" right here:
"“There is no convincing data that has the scientific community absolutely sure that these other dyes are problematic too,” says Frederic Bertley, CEO and President of the Center of Science & Industry and a leading science educator."
The key term is these other dyes. RFKJR wants all dyes removed from our food chain. This guy is pointing out there's no research indicating these other dyes, other than the ones we've already banned, are problematic.
