I kind of predicted something like this around when the pandemic was picking up hiring (in tech). The salaries were accelerating from 100->200->300->400k for people in software. Sure, salaries went up a little for other people, but it has recently become clear to the "have nots" that not only are they stuck to <80k (for the entire household) but they have to go into the office (or driving based work), have task based performance monitoring, are easily replaced if performance goes down (we even have a startup on here writing AI factory worker monitoring software).
And then they found out about us -> we DONT go into an office anymore, our salaries doubled and tripled overnight, and we order everything in, like we're above everyone - living like kings while the surfs handle our poop.
