Is this the strongest statement that 60m has which is why they led with it? "...may have been spying..."? A statement so vague that it could just refer to the fact that the military couldn't 100% rule out civilians with commercial drones who might also be spies?
It would be nice if 60m did some real research such as record the drones, plot their flight paths compared to tracks on flightaware.com, compare their lights against known UAV and airplane lights, etc. Instead, they just point cameras at random officials (who by their nature as military, might be intentionally lying to the press for security reasons) and get vague recorded statements.
I miss having news media that does real investigation rather than just wild clickbaity speculation.
