Even if they're confident that Intel can't or won't enforce their old trademark, "Core 2 Duo" has to be up there on the scale of unnecessarily un-Googlable names.
That’s an interesting rationale from them, especially as neither word includes the letter “u”, and “duo” for “do over” is neither obvious nor established.
Hopefully they exercised better judgement in the design of the product.
Very exciting! I've since left the Pebble ecosystem for Garmin/Withings but I have always had a very fond and memorable experience wearing Pebble watches.
I know this is intended to be a one-off thing, but also holding onto a sliver of hope that this is successful, and RePebble goes on to make more devices in the future.
But even if that doesn't happen, having a new Pebble that will hopefully last a few years or more will be a victory! All my original Pebbles are quite beat up or have hardware issues (failing P2 buttons :'( )
I don't love the color of the Core Time 2, but it sounds like there will actually be 3 colors (black/white/other), and they will be finalized later this year. [1]
The chart on this page also makes it appear that the cheaper watch has a barometer and compass, and the more expensive one lacks these features. Can that be real?
My Fitbit died recently. Have been living without watch now and coping. I was thinking maybe they will do some test patches before going official, so I could jump on board already, but now I got stable release and just need to wait. Near perfect timing. Probably will go with Core Time 2.
got myself the Core 2 Duo - other one was a tad too big for my taste, also I enjoyed the idea of having a compass and barometer for hiking. pity about the lack of HR sensor on it, though.

their stated reason [0] for that is "It’s almost exactly a Pebble 2, upgraded with modern chips and new tricks. Duo is short for ‘Do-over’."

Fingers crossed for gunmetal!

Names are weird though, who cares :D

How big are these compared to other smartwatches? I'd love to see one next to various sizes of AW, for comparison.
What is your experience about the watch?
none at all - this would be the first pebble-y device I could own
