My first 'nix experience was when I installed NetBSD on my Amiga 3000 in 1994.
The first time I got FVWM running on it was magical!
And recompiling the kernel only took 14 hours ;-)
Amiga 3000 had an official Unix System V R4 port: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amiga_Unix
It was far too expensive for hobbyists though.
